Join a Committee

Committees are separate groups dedicated to individual projects. They allow more headway to be made on specific projects without needing the attention of the entire board. They also enable members to be part of the organization's most important issues. Our committees are always accepting new members.

See the bottom of this page for the contact person for each committee.

Awards Committee

The UtSNA is committed to offering one scholarship every year, presented at our annual state convention. We also offer other awards to both groups and individuals. This committee sets requirements for the scholarship, evaluates essays, and helps individuals and groups prepare awards entries for the national level.

Bylaws Committee

The bylaws of the UtSNA are the foundation of the organizations rules and operating procedures. This committee reviews the bylaws yearly and makes sure they are still applicable and clear. Bylaw changes are voted on at every annual convention.

Communication and PR Committee

Communicating with our members is an integral part of surviving as a great organization. This committee maintains our various web presences (this website, Twitter, Facebook, etc) and helps the Convention Committee publicize the annual convention.

Community Health and Education Committee

The UtSNA has partnered with the American Red Cross Greater Salt Lake Area Chapter to provide community education about measles and rubella. This committee provides volunteer instructors and arranges meeting places. This committee also looks for other opportunities to improve community health awareness.

Convention Planning Committee

The UtSNA holds an annual convention every February, and planning it is a huge job. This committee solicits sponsors, arranges speakers and guests, sets up the convention schedule, and develops publicity to inform Utah nursing students about it.

Council of School Presidents

Meeting twice yearly, the COSP is made up of the UtSNA president and the president of each school's SNA chapter. This committee discusses strategies and methods of getting new members, retaining current members, fundraising, service events, and more.

Fundraising Committee

In order to run as an organization and provide monetary awards to members, the UtSNA does fundraising events throughout the year.

Membership Committee

This committee maintains effective contact with Utah school SNA chapters, and also helps schools without chapters start one.

Nominations and Elections Committee

Each UtSNA board is in office for one year. Elections happen at the annual convention, and this committee helps find new candidates and guide them through the nominations and elections process.

Policies and Procedures Committee

Like the bylaws, the policies and procedures of the UtSNA help give us a groundwork for governance. The policies and procedures are less strict than the bylaws, not requiring member voting at the annual convention. The policies and procedures fill in gaps that the bylaws leave ambiguous, and can be specific to the current board and changed easily with future boards.
