Run for a Board Position

Serving on the UtSNA Board is a valuable opportunity that includes getting involved at the state level of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). Being on the Board provides its members with many opportunities to learn new skills and meet new people.

Each member is elected for one year starting from the convention voted in to the convention the following year. All positions are on a volunteer basis. Each member can hold only one Board position. We have faculty advisers who assist with running and operations. Previous board members stay in contact with new board members to ensure a smooth transition to new roles.

Requirements:
NSNA membership
USNA membership for at least 6 months (included in NSNA membership)
Must be present at convention for nomination and election

Note: Pre-nursing students may also run for any of the below offices with the exception of president.

Available Board Positions
  • President: provides a direction for UtSNA, presides at meetings, acts as a delegate at NSNA convention (voting)
  • Vice President: assists President in duties, amends bi-laws as needed
  • Secretary: sets board meetings, takes minutes, get items approved by board
  • Communications Director: over website, newsletter, and general communication to schools
  • Treasurer: budgeting, files nonprofit, reimbursement, taxes
  • Convention Director: just as it sounds: takes the lead on convention for next year!
  • Break Through to Nursing Director: works with pre-nursing students to bridge the gap between pre-program and program
  • Regional Directors: contact schools in their regions to inform of any changes; report any events, awards or changes with schools in their designated region. Region directors must be from that region for which they wish to run. Go to the Regions page for a list of regions and programs.
